About Watts SON

Director's Welcome

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Watts School of Nursing and its web site. As North Carolina’s oldest nursing school, Watts has a long-standing and distinguished reputation for excellence in nursing education. Today, the School continues to position itself for the future while preserving the best from its past.

Students often tell us that the path to becoming a professional nurse is perplexing -- much like solving a puzzle. A key piece is timing and never before has timing been better to become a nurse.

A continued nursing shortage offers multiple opportunities for those interested in the profession. Addressing this shortage, Watts is embarking on a period of unprecedented growth by doubling its enrollment and expanding in both physical space and technology. Still located in Durham, the school’s new facility fosters this expansion with space for a progressive and interactive approach to learning.

Watts continues to diligently prepare graduates who have knowledge and skills pertinent to the rapidly changing environment of the twenty-first century. Whether you are interested in becoming a student, accessing resources as a current student, or seeking ways to simply keep in touch as an alum. I invite you to tour our web site and learn more about what is going on at Watts.
